Pre-Cohort Guide
- Familiarize yourself with how to get involved by reading about DAOs. Check out Bankless' State of the DAO series.
- Read the Raid Guild handbook, especially the part about becoming an apprentice in a cohort. Eventually, if accepted as an apprentice, you will need to prove yourself during a cohort and a current member will be able to help you become a member. Each Member is expected to contribute 500wxDAI (or 500 wxdDAI worth of value) to the DAO in order to become a Member.
- Apply at https://www.raidguild.org/join to join a cohort. If you don't get a confirmation email straight away, don't worry - that issue will be fixed. Your application has been received and you will receive a cohort email if you are accepted.
- Comb through what has been going on in Discord to get your bearings. It's a bit overwhelming at first, especially when you're really enthusiastically wanting to do some work and get started, but with patience you will find what you're looking for!
- Entering into DAOs and web3 is like trying to drink from a fire hose! There's no need to understand everything all at once. Don't do what I did: Jumping from Eth gas tutorials, to DeFi protocols, to deep dives on DAO philosophy and trying to understand it all in a week. I've been told, it will take 6 months to fully understand what's going on and find my footing.
- Go to kick off meetings, introduce yourself, and DM the members who have the role you are aspiring towards, if they have said that their DMs are open. (Don't DM anyone without permission!)
- Show up as much as possible to meetings, hacking, etc.
- Once you've had a shop around, try to focus on 1 or 2 DAOs to start with. Start with spending 80% of your time with one DAO, and keeping an eye on a few others for the rest. Otherwise, you'll be torn and lack focus.
- Check out Raid Guild origin stories to read interviews with successful Guild members, who share what their experience has been in web3 and what life is really like working in DAOs.
Raid Guild Cohort Adventure
All aboard! Getting started on a cohort

- Check out the cohort hq and season-commons channels. This where you will find info on the next cohort meetings and any important links.
- Spend a bit of time on Discord browsing all the channels. Take note of what people are working on and how the different systems and products at Raid Guild fit into each other.
- React to messages that you like! People love to get feedback on their communications.
- Be an active participant. Reply to messages you are interested in.
- Start making friends! This is the most important part - it's not what you know, it's who you know 😉
- Drop in on meetings and absorb what members are doing, even if it's not related to your expertise. This will give you an idea of how RG works.
- Be patient! DAOs are a very new concept and can be confusing! Things take time to unfold. If you're as enthusiastic as I was, you'll be chomping at the bit to get started but have no idea how. Don't worry, things will organically unfold.
- The tools can be lacking. If there is no centralized file system (like Notion), you'll be prowling Discord, looking for hackMD links, which you can favorite and keep stored in a place of your choosing.
- You can even start a file system yourself! This is a great service, as things can be fragmented online. The more information transparency, the easier things are for everyone.
- Get up and running on the different chat bots and calendar here.
